The U.S.K-12 Genius Hour and the Cultivation of Students'Creativity Literacy
In order to construct a leading country in education,innovative talents have been emphasized by all sectors of the society,but China's attention to cultivate innovative talents is mainly focused on higher education,and insufficient on basic education.The core concept of the U.S.K-12 Genius Hour is to cultivate students'higher-order thinking skills,especially creativity,through the creation of inquiry-based learning activities.The main practices of Genius Hour includes:1)creating a free and supportive environment;2)providing students with personalized learning guidance,and;3)guiding students to value reflection and self-evaluation of the program.Research has shown that Genius Hour promotes the development of creativity literacy among primary and secondary school students.In order to cultivate the creativity literacy of our primary and secondary school students,schools should create a learning environment that is conducive to the development of students'creative personalities;provide students with personalized and free opportunities to develop their creative thinking;and introduce students to pay attention to the process of creative practice and self-evaluation.
