From Excessive Competition to Cooperative Development:The Dilemma and Breakthrough of Gifted and Talented Education in South Korea
The competition for high-quality educational resources in the field of gifted education is becoming more and more intensive across all sectors of South Korean society.This excessive competition has impeded the sustainable development of the gifted and talented education.In response,South Korea has implemented several significant measures.Firstly,the country has adopted a dynamic and inclusive approach to develop gifted and talented education,exploring flexible and diversified selection modes.Secondly,it has enhanced the gifted and talented education across different fields and reformed the talent cultivation model.Thirdly,it has established a supportive learning environment that fosters the growth of innovative talents and improves the overall quality of education.Drawing from Korea's experiences,it is necessary and urgent for China to address the legitimacy problem in gifted and talented education and to develop a robust and efficient selection system that ensures equitable opportunities for all students while providing targeted supports for those who require it.
