Risk Identification of Mega Infrastructure Construction Supply Chain in Engineering-Procurement-Construction Projects:A Grounded Theory Approach
Risk identification is the groundwork of risk management for mega infrastructure construc-tion supply chain in engineering-procurement-construction projects(MICSC in EPCs),which helps to guide the follow-up work of risk evaluation and response to reduce the adverse impact of risk events. This paper applied the qualitative research method of grounded theory drawing on stakeholder theory and project life cycle theory and utilizing three ways of expert interview, case analysis, and literature review,211 initial concepts,36 subcategories,12 main categories, and 1 core category were refined after the operational processes of data collection,three-level coding and theoretical saturation test. The results show that the risk factor system of MICSC in EPCs includes 12 primary risk factors and 36 sec-ondary risk factors, embedded in 7 risk participating subjects and 8 risk generating phases.A theoreti-cal model of two-dimensional planar chain structure of the risk factor indicator system of MICSC in EPCs was constructed ultimately.
