Japanese Translation Methods of Conceptual Metaphors Based on"Political Equivalence"——Taking Report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China as an Example
Metaphor,as a cognitive means,is an important vehicle of political discourse.Appropriately and decently translating metaphors in political texts plays a crucial role in disseminating national philosophy and building a political discourse system with Chinese characteristics.Based on the principle of"political equivalence"and focused on Report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China as a research object, this paper analyzes the Japanese translation methods of the conceptual metaphors in the report and finds that:structural metaphors have used five translation methods, including literal translation, omission, interpretation, conversion, and adapting translation.Ontological metaphors have used five translation methods, including literal translation, omission, interpretation, conversion, and amplification.Orientation metaphors have only used the literal translation method. The analysis shows that the translation methods adopted by the different metaphor types differ.According to different types of metaphors, appropriate translation methods can be flexibly selected to ensure the accurate and decent translation of political texts, without losing the original meaning,so as to enhance the influence and communication effect of political discourse with Chinese characteristics.
