Film,as a multimodal cultural carrier,comprising sound,language,text,and symbols,plays a vital role in projecting Chinese culture globally.This study explores the concept of"creative treason"in the subtitle translation in the movie Full River Red released during China's 2023 Spring Festival,emphasizing its significant impact on film appreciation and cultural dissemination.The translation process,rooted in China's traditional culture,synchronizes subtitles,sound,visuals,and other modalities,inevitably show-casing the translator's"creative treason".This paper utilizes the theory of multimodal discourse analysis to delve into the creative treason evident in the subtitle translation in Full River Red,aiming to offer new insights into subtitle translation and enhance transla-tion quality.
