The Cultural Context in Japanese Translation of Current Political Literature—The Example of"Four Characters"in On Building a Human Community with a Shared Future
Cultural context is the linguistic ecosystem formed by each language community in their respective spiritual and prac-tical activities,and it is a cultural mark unique to each language community.Following the systematic functional linguistics division of context into linguistic,situational and cultural contexts,many scholars at home and abroad have also explored the essence of cultural context at multiple levels and angles.In the current field of political literature translation,cultural context has become one of the most important factors affecting the effectiveness of intercultural communication due to its complexity and uniqueness,the"four-character grid"translation with Chinese characteristics is the most suitable entry point for exploring the multicultural context.This article takes the Sino-Japanese"four character grid"of the General Secretary Xi Jinping's On Building a Human Community with a Shared Future as an example,and discusses the different forms of four-character grid case in Japanese translation of current political literature under the conditions of equivalence,absence and variation of cultural contexts,as well as their corresponding translation strategies.
