The Differences Between Chinese and Western Online Social Etiquette and Its Educational Implications
In recent years,due to the increasing use of WeChat and other online social media around the world,coupled with more frequent school-to-school exchanges between Chinese and foreigners through the"Internet+",there has been a significant in-crease in cross-border online social behaviors among teenage students,which has led to an emphasis on the corresponding social eti-quette.In this context,it is necessary to understand the differences between Chinese and Western online social etiquette.Based on the overview of the differences in social etiquette between Chinese and Western cultures,the article focuses on the analysis of the dif-ferences between Chinese and Western online social etiquette in terms of language and vocabulary,expression of politeness and re-spect,expression of non-verbal behaviors,and the use of online social networking platforms,and then puts forward suggestions on how to improve the education of social etiquette in schools by combining the Chinese and Western cultural backgrounds,linguistic characteristics,and online environments with a view to improving the online social competence of young students and thus promoting mutual understanding and in-depth exchanges between Chinese and Western cultures.
