With the in-depth advancement of the national Belt and Road Initiative,countries which along the route have strengthened cultural exchanges,deepened understanding,achieved complementary advantages,and also provided a platform for the dissemination of 5,000-year-old Chinese culture.As an important node city of the Belt and Road,Shangqiu needs to strengthen its external publicity to develop it.Based on the background of the Belt and Road,through the analysis of the current situation and prob-lems of the cultural external propaganda and translation of Shangqiu Ancient City,and the existing external translation materials of Shangqiu Ancient City,this paper uses the"functional equivalent"translation theory of Chinese dialectician Eugene Nida to propose three translation strategies that meet the cultural characteristics of Shangqiu Ancient City in a targeted manner(change the meaning to form;transliteration literal and annotated method;pay attention to the communicative function of the text)and give specific sugges-tions on the translation of cultural propaganda in the ancient city of Shangqiu,and solve these problems scientifically and reasonably through these two effective ways.
