A Corpus Based Study on the Language Features of Elieen Chang's Self-Translated Prose from English to Chinese
From the perspective of Elieen Chang's self translation from English to Chinese,this study uses her self-translated prose as the research corpus to study the language characteristics of Elieen Chang's self translated works from two aspects:vocabulary and syntax.The result shows that the vocabulary of Elieen Chang's self-translated prose is more flexible and diverse,which is very similar to the usage of her original prose.However,observing from a syntactic perspective,her self-translated prose exhibits translation universals in some way,which is more consistent with those of Elieen Chang's translation of prose for others.This result indicates that Elieen Chang's self-translation has more autonomy in choosing words and sentences,but it is still influenced by the overall structure of the source text.
