A Study on the English Translation of Chinese Classical Prose Guided by the Threshold of Reception Aesthetics—Two Translations of Xiang Ji Xuan Zhi as Examples
The theory of reception aesthetics takes the specific process of aesthetic subject's appreciation and acceptance of aes-thetic object as the center of research.With an essential influence on both literary creation and literary research,it also takes readers as center and emphasizes the importance of filling in the uncertainties of the texts in the reader's reading process.In terms of transla-tion,the theory of reception aesthetics has an important effect,as its key concepts lead the translators to pay attention to the readers,and affect the translator's understanding of the texts and the choice of translation strategies.Guided by the theory,the author has se-lected two English translations of the classical Chinese prose Xiang Ji Xuan Zhi as comparative research materials,analyzed the translator's attention to the expectation vision or summoning structure,as well as the influence of important concepts of receptive aes-thetics in the translations,and aimed to explore the guiding significance of the theory in the English translation of prose to promote Chinese culture"going out".
