The Historical Meaning of Character Changing from Forbidden City Plaques During the Qing Dynasty
A plaque is a part of ancient architecture.It can express the meaning and emotions of the symbol and explain the name and nature of the building.The plaque of the Forbidden City not only show the function of the architecture,but also openly ex-presses the attitude and concepts of the rulers.In the Qing Dynasty,there were many changes in the inscriptions on the Forbidden City plaques.To study the reasons,processes,and impacts of these changes,this article uses survey and literature research methods for research.Through on-site investigation of the Forbidden City,it was found that there are issues with the transliteration and free translation of Manchu plaques,as well as the variation of multiple characters on the plaques.The former reflects the ideological trans-formation of the Manchu people from tribes to the state,while the latter is of great significance for exploring the development of ethnic relations in the Qing Dynasty.The time when other ethnic characters appeared and disappeared on the plaques,as well as the order in which the characters were arranged,are significant.It can be seen that the Qing Dynasty made significant contributions to the con-solidation and development of a unified multi-ethnic country's culture,as well as the situation of the development of multiculturalism in the Qing Dynasty.
