The separation of uranium from acid aqueous solution by ion flotation was studied in this work.Cationic sur-factant cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB)was used as collector and foaming agent. The results show that the re-moval of uranium increases first and then decreases as the pH value of the solution increases from 3 to 7.It is found that the addition of Na2CO3 has a significant effect on the removal rate of uranium under acidic conditions. It is believed that with the addition of carbonate ions, uranyl ions begin to transform into UO2(CO3)22-and UO2(CO3)34-under the condi-tion of pH value greater than 5.These complex anions can interact with CTA+in solution. The cationic active agent as collector can prevent other metal ions which are difficult to form complex anions from mixing,it is beneficial to improve the selectivity of uranium separation in solution. Thus, cationic collector based ion flotation method has great application.
