The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of steel slag as coarse aggregate added to RAP to form steel slag recycled asphalt mixtures. The RAP material was treated first to obtain fine aggregate and then the mixtures were prepared. The road performance of different graded asphalt concretes was investigated separately. The interfacial properties of andesite, recycled aggregate and steel slag with asphalt were analyzed. The results show that the steel slag asphalt mixture SMA-16 has a high temperature rutting of 5 848 times/mm,a low temperature bending of 1 108.23 N,and the highest fatigue equation K value of 9 652.1.Under the action of water pressure, the steel slag presents a lower stripping rate and higher adhesion destructive force of 12.0%and 13.2%,respectively.It shows that steel slag recycled asphalt mixtures have better road performance.
