This study used thermally activated bauxite tailings instead of burnt clay to prepare composite cement with a clinker content of 50%.The effect of the ratio of thermally activated bauxite tailings to limestone on the performance of composite cement was studied. The results indicate that thermally activated bauxite tailings can replace clay burning to prepare limestone clay fired cement.Increasing the proportion of limestone can reduce the water requirement for the stand-ard consistency of composite cement and shorten the setting time; When the ratio of thermally activated bauxite tailings to limestone is 3,the mechanical properties of composite cement can reach a level of 42.5 MPa.The hydration process of composite cement prepared by thermally activated bauxite tailings and limestone is similar to that of LC3 cement, and a new phase of hydrated carboaluminate is also generated.
