Superlubricity performance of ZrO2/PI lubricated with liquid crystals
This paper focuses on the friction performance of a tribological system composed of liquid crystal(LC)and polyimide(PI).The tribological system mentioned uses ZrO2 and PI(PMDA-ODA)films as the friction pair, with liquid crystals 3PEP5(80%)-3UTPP2(20%),3PEP5(80%)-3UTPP4(20%)and 3PEP5(80%)-4UTPP3(20%)used as lubricants. We conducted friction tests on the system under different rotational speeds and loads, and performed surface analysis tests on the PI film experimental sample, including white light interference testing and SERS.The friction test results show that the average friction coefficient of liquid crystal 3PEP5(80%)-4UTPP3(20%)is the smallest under a load of 5 N and a rotational speed of 250 r/min,and those of surface analysis tests show that some groups in the main chain and side chain of the PI molecule are oriented parallel to the PI surface after rubbing, resulting in the occurrence of superlubricity.Using ZrO2 ceramics as the friction pair in the tribological system is a new attempt, which will contribute to the future research of ZrO2 friction systems.
