Plastic Response and Failure of Aluminum Foam Sandwich Plates Under Repeated Impacts
Based on the repeated impact test of aluminum foam sandwich panel, the influence of punch shape on plastic response and failure of sandwich panel was studied, and its deformation accumulation and energy dissipation characteristics were analyzed. The results show that the ratio of punch diame-ter to side length of sandwich panel α directly affects the deformation mode of sandwich panel, and then affects the failure mode of sandwich panel. When α is 0.2,the sandwich panel mainly produces local depression, the core layer dissipates energy through local compression, and the front panel is de-stroyed first. When α reaches 0.4,the sandwich panel mainly bends and stretches as a whole, and the core layer dissipates energy through integral compression, and the back panel is destroyed first. The greater α is,the greater the peak value of collision force is,the shorter the collision time is,and the greater the number of times the sandwich panel can resist penetration. The greater the impact energy, the smaller the energy recovery coefficient of sandwich panel under repeated impact.
