Comparison of Meso-characteristics of Asphalt Mortar in Tension and Compression Based on Discrete Element Method
A uniaxial tensile strength test method based on asphalt mortar was designed, and a discrete element model was constructed and calibrated. The contact, probability density, force chain distribu-tion and linear viscosity ratio under tension and compression load were compared and analyzed. The results show that there is no significant difference in contact force and quantity distribution law, stress probability density distribution law and force chain distribution law of asphalt mortar system with the change of tensile and compressive load direction, and the asphalt mortar material composition is the same, and the spatial microstructure resisting external load remains unchanged. The significant differ-ence between uniaxial tensile strength and compressive strength of asphalt mortar lies in the difference of the subjects who resist the load.Under compression load,it is resisted by aggregate embedding and asphalt cementation in asphalt mortar, while under tensile load,it is resisted by asphalt cementation in asphalt mortar.
