Numerical Simulation of the Effect of Muddy Layer on Ship-ship Interaction
Aiming at the influence of floating mud layer on ship-to-ship interference, the hydrodynamic interference between overtaking ship and being chased ship in floating mud waters was numerically simulated by solving RANS equation. The characteristics of the forces and moments on the overtaking ship and the overtaken ship with or without floating mud were compared and analyzed, and the influ-ences of the changes of different water depths, draft ratios, abundant water depths and speed ratios on the forces and moments on the two ships in the floating mud waters were discussed. The results show that the floating mud layer will expand the scope of ship-to-ship interference, and the extreme values of the force and moment on the overtaking ship and the moment on the overtaken ship will decrease with the increase of the rich water depth. When the depth-to-draft ratio is constant, the extreme val-ues of the force and moment on the overtaking ship increase with the increase of the thickness of the floating mud.The extreme values of the force and moment on the overtaken ship decrease with the in-crease of the speed ratio, and the divergence angle of the stern wave decreases with the increase of the ship speed.
