Rheological Properties of Phosphorus Based Flame Retardant Modified Polyester
In order to investigate the rheological properties of FR-PET(Flame-retardant polyester)modified with 2-carboxyethyl phenyl hypophosphite(CEPPA)as flame retardant, the thermal stability and rheological properties of the flame retardant modified po lyester were tested by thermogravimetric analyzer and capillary rheometer, respectively. The results showed that the initial degradation temperature of FR-PET slightly decreased and the residual carbon rate increased, indicating that the carbon formation effect of the flame retardant polyester became better. The shear stress increases with the increase of shear rate and decreases with the increase of temperature, while the shear viscosity decreases with the increase of shear rate and decreases with the increase of t emperature, compared with the ordinary polyester, the modified flame retardant polyester has lower viscosity and increased fluidity;the non-Newtonian index n of the flame retardant modified polyester is less than 1,and the non-Newtonian index decreases with the increase of shear rate. The decrease of the viscous activation energy with the increase of shear rate reflects that the sensitivity of flame retardant polyester to t emperature decreases gradually with the increase of shear rate;under the premise of the same shear rate and temperature, the fluid shear stress and shear viscosity of flame retardant polyester are lower and the non-Newtonian index and viscous activation energy are greater under 1 mm mouth mold diameter compared with 0.5 mm mouth mold diameter. The results of this study can provide some reference for the preparation process and parameter adjustment of flame retardant polyester fibers.
