Research on Clothing Demand and Design Practice Based on Characteristics of Mentally Disabled Students
Students with intellectual disabilities have special needs for clothes,and wearing ordinary clothes brings great inconvenien ce to their life,but this problem has not been paid enough attention to.In order to promote the perfect design of clothing for students with intellectual disabilities and the development of the industry,this paper takes students with intellectual disabilities in sc hool as the research object,and summarizes the commonalities and weak links of clothing design research for disabled p eople in China on the basis of literature review.Based on the case study data,the clothing design for the needs of students with intellectual disabilities is made.The design study shows that the waterproof cloth with water storage cotton card slot is added to the front piece of the clothing,or the magnetic piece is installed in the front piece of the independent card slot,which can be wiped directly when the clothing is contaminated by saliva and meanwhile the independent parts can be replaced separately.The sleeve cage below the elbow is made of waterproof fabric.When the lower sleeve cage is contaminated,it can be wiped,and the whole coat can be cleaned without changing.Use invisibl e zippers/Velcro/soft magnetic strips to connect the crotch to the body of the pants,and only replace the crotch parts when the crotch is contaminated,or add zippers to both sides of the pants,which can be quickly put on and off when needed.With the optimized clothing,stains can be removed by wiping or changing clothing pieces,thus bringing convenience to students with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers.
