Research on the Construction and Effectiveness of a College English Vocabulary Teaching Model Integrating Chinese Culture Based on the Concept of Empowerment
In the context of comprehensively promoting the development of curriculum-based political and virtuous awareness and the strategy of"Chinese culture going global",this study constructed a model of integrating Chinese culture into college English vocabulary teaching based on the concept of empowerment in the hope of providing practical reference for the integration of Chinese culture into other aspects of college English teaching or the development of curriculum-based political and virtuous awareness,contributing to solving the problem of Chinese cultural aphasia in English education in China and spreading Chinese culture.This model was applied in College English.Quantitative and qualitative methods were used to test the effectiveness of this model,in which 91 freshmen were taught English vocabulary.The pre-test and post-test of these students'ability to express Chinese culture in English were conducted and their written feedback was collected.The study shows that this model can effectively improve college students'ability to express Chinese culture in English,stimulate their interest in English learning,help them broaden their horizon,enlarge their vocabulary and acquire English expressions of many Chinese cultural terms,deepen their understanding of Chinese culture,build their cultural confidence,and help them comprehend the similarities and differences between Chinese culture and Western culture,thereby promoting the dissemination of Chinese culture to the outside world.
