Comparison of the effects of two surgical modalities for sigmoid colon cancer
Objective To compare the efficacy of laparoscopic surgery and open surgery for patients with sigmoid colon canc-er.Methods A total of 50 patients with sigmoid colon cancer who underwent emergency surgery in the Characteristics Medical Center of Chinese People's Armed Police Force from June 2016 to June 2023 were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group according to the random number table method, with 25 patients in each group. The control group was treated with traditional open surgery, and the observation group was treated with laparoscopic surgery. The incidence of postoperative complications, levels of in-flammatory factors, leukocytes and neutrophils were compared between the two groups. Results The average operation time of the ob-servation group was significantly longer than that of the control group, but there was no statistical significance. The incidence of postop-erative incision infection complications in the observation group was 0%(0/25),which was significantly lower than 16.0%(4/25)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);The intraoperative blood loss, postoperative bowel sound recovery time and hospital stay of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the incidence of postoperative com-plications and the levels of TNF-α,IL-6,IL-1β,WBC and ANC were significantly lower than those of the control group, the differ-ences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions Laparoscopic surgery is effective in the treatment of sigmoid colon cancer, with less intraoperative blood loss, which can reduce the occurrence of complications, shorten the recovery time of bowel sounds,re-duce the length of hospital stay, and reduce the level of pro-inflammatory factors.
