Effect of Halo pelvic traction on severe scoliosis and lung function
Objective To explore the effects of Halo pelvic traction(HPT)on severe scoliosis and lung function. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 100 patients with scoliosis and pulmonary insufficiency admit-ted to Beijing Dawang Road Emergency Rescue Hospital from January 2021 to October 2023.All patients received primary HPT trac-tion treatment and secondary scoliosis correction surgery. The changes of imaging indicators and pulmonary function indexes were com-pared before traction, after the last traction follow-up and after internal fixation surgery.Pearson statistical correlation was used to ana-lyze the effect of the Cobb angle on the main curvature on lung function indicators. Results The results of lung function in the included patients showed that the restrictive ventilation function parameters increased in different degrees before traction, during the last traction follow-up and after internal fixation surgery(P<0.05).Correlation analysis showed that with the decrease of Cobb angle of the main curvature, lung restrictive ventilation function parameters were significantly negatively correlated(P<0.05).Conclusions HPT trac-tion can effectively correct severe scoliosis deformity and improve respiratory function, which is a safe and effective adjunctive treatment measure.
