Analysis of Factors Affecting Carbon Emissions of Logistics Industry in Inner Mongolia Based on LMDI
Inner Mongolia has been established as a strategic hub for the China-Mongolia-Russia Eco-nomic Corridor, which brings not only new opportunities for the development of the green logistics system of this region but also complex challenges.During the 14th Five-Year Planning period, several cities in In-ner Mongolia Autonomous Region have been designated as functional circulation and modern logistics hub cities, opening up a fast lane for the development of the logistics industry in the region, which will also have significant impact on the achievement of the dual carbon goal for the logistics industry. Therefore, studying the current situation and characteristics of carbon emissions of the logistics industry in Inner Mongolia,ana-lyzing the existing problems and influencing factors, will provide basis for policy-makers of Inner Mongolia to formulate carbon peaking and green development policies that are more in line with the logistics reality of Inner Mongolia. In order to analyze the dynamic characteristics and driving mechanisms of carbon emissions of the logistics industry in Inner Mongolia,in this study,we quantify the carbon emissions of the logistics industry in Inner Mongolia from 2006 to 2021 using the"top-down"estimation framework recommended by the Intergov-ernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC).Subsequently,we introduce in and optimize the logarithmic mean Divisia index(LMDI)to systematically identify the key factors influencing the carbon emissions of the logistics industry. The result shows that, from 2006 to 2021,the carbon emissions of the logistics industry in Inner Mongolia show an upward trend followed by a downward curve and then stabilize and the active im-plementation of energy-saving and emissions reduction measures during the"Twelfth Five-Year Planning"period in Inner Mongolia is one of the reasons for the sharp reduction in carbon emissions of the logistics in-dustry in 2013;economic development has the strongest driving effect on the carbon emissions of the logis-tics industry in Inner Mongolia, followed by transport intensity;and energy intensity has a strong inhibitory effect on the carbon emissions of the logistics industry in Inner Mongolia, followed in order by industrial structure, energy structure, and population size.Based on the above findings, the following suggestions are proposed:First, optimize the design of the logis-tics network, such as streamlining transportation processes, rationalizing storage facilities, and adopting low-carbon and efficient logistics technologies and equipment, and, with cost-effectiveness as the guiding princi-ple,weaken the promoting effect of transportation intensity on carbon emissions.Second, accelerate the green transformation of energy structure, increase the proportion of clean energy such as natural gas,electrici-ty,wind energy, and solar energy, etc.in logistics activities,to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and effec-tively control the carbon emissions of the logistics industry.
