Research on Influencing Factors of Community Residents' Participation in Express Packaging Recycling:A Dual Perspective of Recycling Mode and Incentive Mechanism
The rapid development of e-commerce has brought about a continuous growth in express busi-ness,and the quantity of express packaging waste has also soared.At present,China's express packaging recy-cling is faced with many problems,such as low recycling utilization rate and lack of reasonable recycling mechanism,resulting in a serious waste of resources and environmental pollution.Existing literature mainly focuses on the influencing factors of consumers'participation in express packag-ing recycling,but pays little attention to the relationship between consumers'willingness of express packag-ing recycling and their participation behavior.Therefore,in this paper,we studied the impact of recycling mode and incentive mechanism on community residents'participation in express packaging recycling.With the questionnaire survey data of community residents'intention to participate in express packaging recycling as the sample,we analyzed the impact of different recycling methods and incentive mechanisms on the partic-ipation of the residents,so as to mobilize the enthusiasm of consumers to participate in express packaging re-cycling,strengthen their recycling willingness,and effectively improve the recycling rate of express packag-ing.On such basis,we constructed a model of influencing factors of community residents'participation in ex-press packaging recycling,and discussed the influence on the participation of community residents in express packaging recycling from the aspects of time and labor efficiency of the recycling method,material and non-material incentive measures,recycling willingness,and policy publicity,etc.Then,we designed a question-naire form to measure community residents'willingness to participate in express packaging recycling and im-plemented a questionnaire survey on the community residents in Caolu Town,Pudong New Area,Shang-hai,from which we collected 516 valid results.The result of the empirical research shows that time and labor efficiency of the recycling method,material and non-material incentive measures can positively affect the consumer's participation in express packaging recycling.Recycling willingness has a partial mediating effect between recycling modes,incentive mecha-nisms and consumers'participation in express packaging recycling,and policy publicity can positively regu-late consumers'participation in express packaging recycling.Finally,we proposed the corresponding countermeasures.First of all,more sophisticated express packaging recycling facilities should be made available,and convenient recycling points should be added in residential areas and express delivery stations to provide door-to-door recycling services,so as to facilitate the participa-tion of residents,thereby improving the participation of express packaging recycling.Secondly,an effective incentive mechanism for express packaging recycling should be constructed.The government,institutions and enterprises need to improve the administrative,supervision and penalty/reward system and implement diversified incentive strategies to channel recycling intentions into recycling behaviors,realize resource recy-cling,and contribute to the construction of a green society.In addition,more efforts should be made to raise public awareness of environment protection and express packaging recycling.The government,communities,enterprises and environmental organizations should,via multiple platforms,widely disseminate environmental knowledge,strengthen public environmental aware-ness,and stimulate people's enthusiasm for waste recycling.
