Impact of Digital Transformation on Supply Chain Resilience:A Dynamic Capability Perspective
In the era of globalization and digitalization,supply chain stability and resilience are crucial for high-quality economic development.Digital transformation,as an important means to enhance corporate competitiveness,has attracted increasingly more attention for its impact on supply chain resilience.This study aims to explore how digital transformation affects supply chain resilience and analyzes its intrinsic mechanisms based on the dynamic capability theory,thus providing theoretical support and practical guid-ance for policy makers and corporate practitioners.This study analyzed the data of Chinese A-share listed companies for the 2010 to 2022 period employing various statistical and econometric methods.By constructing an econometric model and controlling for fixed effects at the layers of firm,industry,and year,it addressed the potential issue of endogeneity using propensity score matching(PSM)and instrumental variable estimation to ensure the robustness and reliability of the cal-culation results.The research finds that digital transformation can significantly enhance the resistance and recoverability of supply chains,thereby strengthening their resilience.This effect stands valid after robustness test and endoge-neity analysis.A mediation effect tests indicates that dynamic capabilities play a partial mediating role be-tween digital transformation and supply chain resilience.A heterogeneity analysis further reveals that the pro-motion of supply chain resilience through digital transformation is more significant in the eastern region,and with traditional industries or labor-intensive enterprises.Through the study,it was proposed that,firstly,companies should engage in more extensive digital trans-formation,especially in the eastern region and traditional industries,by introducing advanced digital tools and platforms to improve supply chain transparency and responsiveness;labor-intensive enterprises should prioritize the upgrading of the production management system and intelligent warehousing management sys-tem to enhance production efficiency and supply chain resilience.Secondly,companies need to strengthen their dynamic capabilities,including adaptability,absorptive capacity,and innovation capability,and enhance supply chain resilience through digital transformation;enterprises in the eastern region can leverage their geo-graphical and Internet advantages,traditional industry companies should focus on optimizing internal process-es,and labor-intensive enterprises can enhance employee capabilities through skills training.Thirdly,the government should create an environment conducive to corporate digital transformation by providing tax in-centives,subsidies,and low-interest loans to reduce the associated costs and risks.Additionally,the govern-ment should increase investment in digital infrastructure construction,expand broadband coverage,and en-hance data center capacity to provide stable Internet support for the companies.Furthermore,a digital inno-vation platform should be established to promote collaboration between companies and universities or re-search institutions,implement digital talent training programs targeting at traditional industries and labor-in-tensive enterprises,and enhance the digital capabilities of grassroots employees and management personnel.
