From the War against Japanese Aggression to the reform and opening-up,the status of Yunnan art in the histo-ry of Chinese art has changed.Yunnan art,during this period is divided into three stages:Yunnan art during the War against Japanese Aggression period,Yunnan art after the founding of People's Republic of China in 1949,Yunnan art af-ter the reform and opening-up.Compared with that of the three stages,the ancient Yunnan art is lack of attention due to various reasons.During the War against Japanese Aggression,this phenomenon began to change.Yunnan art had achieved fruitful results by the 1980s.By examining the development of Yunnan modern and contemporary art,the achievements and reasons of the development of Yunnan art can be summed up and the position of Yunnan mod-ern and contemporary art in the history of Chinese art can be redefined.
