The Girl Student is a short story created by Osamu Dazai, the famous Japanese writer. This paper is based on the three principles of German functionalist Skopos theory, and follows the nine translation methods and comparative evalua-tion methods of different translations summarized in the work Translation Behavior and Cross cultural Communication by Fu-miko Fujinami.Three Chinese translated versions of The Girl Student are selected for comparative analysis on translation at sentence level,to analyze the advantages, disadvantages, and characteristics of each translation from a professional transla-tion theory perspective. In the process of comparative analysis,it was found that the translation purposes of the three ver-sions are essentially the same, and both need to convey the aesthetic and artistic form of the source language. In terms of translation methods at the sentence level, the three versions often use reconstruction and adaptation translation methods, all of which can be adjusted according to the target language culture.Overall, all three versions can basically comply with the three principles of Skopos theory. At the same time,it has once again proven that functionalist translation theory is also suit-able for the analysis of literary works'translations.
