A Supplementary Note on the Bibliography History Problems in the Comparative Study of Historical Records, and History of the Han Dynasty—Together with a Discussion of the Methodological Difficulties in the Comparative Examination of Two Books
Since the founding of new China, the indexes to many annotations of History Records, have been catego-rized into the section of"History in Han Dynasty"and the section of"some related titles existing but without listed in"His-tory in Han Dynasty",a phenomenon that deserves the attention of researchers who focus on the similarities and differences of Ma Ban.A review of the section of"History in Han Dynasty"and the history of scholarship reveals that the first cata-logue monograph listed in it is the ROC version of Zheng Hesheng's Collection of Zheng Shi,while the earliest one includ-ed in a specialist catalogue of"Ma Ban's commentary on differences and similarities"is probably the Song-dynasty version of Gao Xisun's Shilve. As a matter of fact, these two versions didn't attract the scholars'appraisal at all.Although labeled as the book of"Shi(history)and Han(Han Dynasty)",the section of"History in Han Dynasty"is not the relevant bibliog-raphy for the comparative study of Records of the history and History in Han Dynasty,so it is important for catalogers to dis-tinguish between them.In addition, the research methodology of the study of the difficulties in the comparison of the two books should not be confined to the history of the study of the difficulties in the comparison of the two books, and research-ers should rather be familiar with the history of the study and keep a certain distance from it,and return to the original canon research for re-discerning the direction.
