During the May Fourth Movement period,under the influence of western feminist movement and anarchism,female writers began to construct the narrative of"single women".Entering the stage of war resistance,in the rear area,where social problems were more prominent and contradictions more acute,the narrative of"single women"was preserved because women's liberation discourse was integrated into the trend of national liberation,which was also determined by the special political,economic and cultural environment in the rear area.The narrative of"single women"is not only an experi-ment to realize the social value of women in the special period,but also a reflection and exploration of the path of women's liberation in the May Fourth period.What's more,it is a choice made by women in the difficult times to ensure that they will not become voiceless in the historical process again.This paper holds that the real life conditions of women in wartime can be further understood by exploring these"single women"narratives and the uniqueness and complexity of the process of female liberation in our country can be made clear by comparing with the causes of"single women"in western society.
