Abstract
The mainstream film Long Way Homeeffectively accomplishes the functions of ideological and political edu-cation in colleges and universities through some film-making skills like character portrayal,plot design,visual language,music selection,etc.This film conveys core values,the spirit of striving,sense of responsibility,and patriotic sentiments,which not only provides a positive ideological and value inspiration to college students but also offers a valuable insights for filmmakers.The realization path of ideological and political education in colleges and universities through Long Way Home can be summarized into the following ways;the core values are conveyed through the representation of main character,the responsibility and resilience spirit are highlighted through the plot-design,the emotional resonance is enhanced by use of vi-sual and musical elements,and the most important implication is revealed through the director's and screen-writer's clear intention.
