The rapid innovation of information technology and internet technology has brought rich information resourc-es,but some negative phenomena such as information overload and surplus emerges unavoidably.As a process of selecting,transmitting,re-engineering,and optimizing information,ideological and political education is objectively affected by infor-mation overload,which results in many problems such as moral nihility and cultural dissolution in educational contexts,in-sufficient attraction and loss of positions for ideological and political educators,and information dependence and selection anxiety among learners.Based on this,a comprehensive and multi-level analysis of the causes of the dilemma is conducted,and starting from both inside and outside the classroom some measures are proposed with the consideration of both educators who transmit information and learners who receive ideas with an aim of enhancing the effectiveness of ideological and politi-cal education.Outside the classroom,information technology should be utilized to overcome the dilemma of information overload;inside the classroom,value guidance should be carried out to cope with the impact of information overload;for teachers,it is necessary to update their teaching methods to respond to the challenge of information overload in ideological and political education;for learners,it is necessary to enhance their own literacy to alleviate the pressure of information overload.
