The Book Han's Yiwen Zhi is written with the reference of on Liu Xiang's Bielu and Liu Xin's Qilue, while adjusting the number of parts with some addition and deletion.Ban Gu"revised four chapters of Historical Records,"and removed them along with"seven chapters of the book Qinsong by Huainan,Liu Xiang, and others"from the Summary of the Six Arts, indicating that four chapters from Sima Qian's Historical Records were deleted by Ban Gu due to their repe-tition with other works outside the Summary of the Six Arts.Considering the overall listing and categorization in the Han's Yiwen Zhi,the four chapters are the"Book of Rites,""Book of Music,""Annals of Emperor Wu,"and"Book of Laws".The version of Historical Records that Ban Gu knew consisted of 124 chapters, and after his revisions and deletions,it retained 120 chapters. However, the Han's Yiwen Zhi presents a list with 130 chapters in Historical Records and notes that"ten chapters are listed but not extant,"which was to record the fact that ten chapters were lost after Sima Qian's death. The four texts that do not overlap with its brief chapters were supplemented and added by historian during the Wei and Jin dy-nasties,and by the time of the Jin and Song dynasties, the ten lost chapters had been completely reinserted into Historical Records.
