Empirical Evidence of Communication,Exchange, and Integration among the Chinese Nation:Chinese Characters Belonging to National Scripts
Chinese characters belong to a kind of self-derived characters, which began to spread outward in the Shang Dynasty, and after the Qin Dynasty became the official characters used in China. In the following two thousand years, although Chinese characters experienced the change of dynasties and their own physical evolution, they were still stable and had a great influence on the surrounding ethnic minorities. Some ethnic minorities imitate Chinese characters to create their own ethnic characters, such as the Western Xia,Khitan,Jurchen ethnic minorities and the southern minorities such as Zhuang,Bai and Miao nationalities. In the creation of Chinese characters, these ethnic groups have more or less referred to the shape of Chinese characters, the pronunciation of Chinese characters, and the six categories of characters creation method for Chinese characters, which obviously have the physical characteristics of Chinese characters. The article holds that the emergence of these characters is the product of ethnic exchanges and integration in history, and is a classic example of forging the community consciousness of the Chinese nation.
