Ribonucleic acid(RNA)degradation products and their derivatives have many biological functions and be-long to medicinal and food origin.In recent years,they have been widely used in new food flavor enhancers,health products,antiviral preparations,and agricultural yield enhancers etc,and widely used in many aspects,and have fairy high market values.At present,they are mainly obtained by microorganisms through fermentation,then enzymat-ically converted into a variety of degradation products and derivatives to meet market demand.Saccharomyces cerevisi-ae,a generally regarded as safe(GRAS)microorganism with a high nucleic acid content,is an ideal microorganism RNA producer.In the previous study,it was found that enhanced the expression of hypoxanthine nucleotide dehydro-genase(HNDH)induced to the synthesis of ribosome RNA(rRNA)in S.cerevisiae.From a pharmaceutical perspec-tive,HNDH has been used to study as a target for the development of anticancer,antiviral,and antiparasitic drugs.This paper reviews the current research status of HNDH,focusing on the biological function,structure,isozyme,and expression regulation mechanism of HNDH.Combined HNDH association with rRNA synthesis,its role in enhancing nucleic acid production in S.cerevisiae prospects.So as to provide a theoretical basis for breaking the technical bottle-neck of the nucleic acid industry.
