Study on the Effectiveness of Micro-structure Compressed Air Foam Fire Extinguishing System in Real Fire Treatment—A Case of Large Converter Transformer Fire
The high-voltage direct current transmission project lay a solid foundation for the stable development of China's economy.The large converter transformer plays a key operating equipment in the converter station.Once a fire occurs inside the device,the large quantity of oil stored inside the transformer will burn rapidly,resulting in major economic losses in a short time,and seriously affecting the stable operation of the power grid.This paper analyzes the fire risk of large converter transformers and the fire extinguishing agent selection strategy,proposes the use of the micro-structure compressed air foam fire extinguishing system in firefighting.The simulation results of spray cooling experiment and real fire test show that the high-precision compressed air foam system with particle size in the range of 100~200 μm can effectively suppress the initial fire of large converter transformers,minimize the economic loss caused by the fire.
