Historical Evolution of the Relationship between Police Ranks and Military Ranks in China—Discussion on the Trend of Police Rank System Reform in China
The military rank system and the police rank system are both exotic products introduced into China from the West in modern times.In terms of their origins,police ranks and military ranks have an important symbiotic relationship.There is a close linkage between them in China.Specific historical periods have imposed limitations on of the two rank systems,resulting in highly similar drawbacks of these systems.Although the reform of the"Military Rank Dominant System"has completely solved the biggest drawback of the previous military rank system—"position and rank inversion",this drawback in the police rank system has not been solved.The unique political attributes of China's police force make the police rank system share important similarities with the military rank system.The"Military Rank Dominant System"provides a new model for the reform of the police rank system to demonstrate the hierarchy of the rank system.
