Professor Pu Zhizhen's studies on Yang Xiong's Fangyan are characterized by their linguistic standpoint and perspective.Professor Pu Zhizhen's major contributions to the study of Fangyan include:she proved that Erya is the prototype of Fangyan in a scientific way;she proved with sufficient evidences that Yagu(雅詰)in Fangyan came from Erya;she found some Muti(母題)recurring in Fangyan and explained this phenomenon;she proved that Fangyan is an unfinished book.Professor Pu Zhizhen's achievements on the study of Fangyan will be recorded in the history of contemporary linguistics.
