The word"pei(佩)"was first seen in the inscriptions of the Western Zhou Dynasty.Regarding the interpretation of the word"pei(佩)",later scholars often refer to the view of Shuowen.However,it hasn't explained what"pei(佩)"is.This article refers to the new bronze inscriptions,combined with the use of"pei(佩)"in the inscriptions of the Western Zhou Dynasty and the use cases,and believes that the common phrase"ce ming pei yi chu"in the inscriptions of the Western Zhou Dynasty should be interpreted as"go out after accepting ce(册)and pei(佩)".The original meaning of the word"pei(佩)"should refer to a strip-like fabric hanging from the waistband.
