A Study of the English Versions of Six Chapters of a Floating Life from the Perspective of Conceptual Metonymy
Combined with the theory of conceptual metonymy,a study of the differences between Chinese and foreign translators in the English translation of Six Chapters of a Floating Life can provide explanatory reasons for the cognitive means and influencing factors of con-ceptual metonymy translation. The research shows that the translation differences between Chinese and foreign translators are reflected in the metonymy between things and their parts, the metonymy of events, the metonymy between categories and features, the metonymy of actions, the metonymy of containers and the metonymy of places. The cultural background and the interpretive style of the translator are the main reasons for the differences in conceptual metonymy translation.
