A Study of the Residences of Guangdong Expatriates in Modern Times under the Theory of Architectural Aesthetics
Based on the characteristics of regional cultures of architectural aesthetics, this paper makes an overall analysis and classifica-tion of the residential culture of overseas Chinese villages in modern Guangdong Province.The folk houses in overseas Chinese townships in Guangdong are divided into three cultural districts: Guangfu, Chaoshan and Hakka.By using interdisciplinary research methods, this paper analyzes the evolution of the three major building blocks of Guangdong qiaoxiang culture: economy supported by overseas Chinese remittanc-es, social structure and humanistic character, systematically discusses the characteristics and development trend of folk houses in modern overseas Chinese townships in Guangdong at the cultural level, and makes an in-depth analysis of the ethnic differences between the three cultural districts. It clarifies the unique phenomenon and course of the evolution of folk houses in the districts caused by the differences. Fully grasping the interdisciplinary characteristics of architectural aesthetics and perceiving them from a multi-level and varied perspective can provide an important reference for the study of folk residence culture in Guangdong's qiaoxiang regions.
