Chen Xianzhang's Moral Education Thought with Self-attainmentas the Core
Chen Xianzhang, as a prominent thinker and educator in the Ming Dynasty, founded the "Jiangmen School" in the Lingnan region, establishing a system of educational and moral philosophy centered around the concept of "self-attainment".He introduced educa-tional principles and methods such as learning to achieve self-attainment through meditation and spontaneity, and employing poetry to convey moral principles. He emphasized the substitution of "cultivation" for traditional "teaching,"with a view to cultivating individuals possessing the spirit of seeking truth while doubting, the virtue of learning from nature, and an aesthetic inclination towards the harmony of myriad trans-formations. These moral and educational concepts continue to hold instructive significance in contemporary context.
