A Survey Research on the Language Life of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cross-Boundary Students in the Context of Deep Integration between Guangdong and Hong Kong
A self-compiled questionnaire was used to survey the urban language use of more than 500 cross-boundary students from Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The results show that Putonghua is the main language used by cross-border students, followed by Cantonese, and a variety of codes such as native dialects and English coexist but are in a marginal position. SPSS statistics show that whether students use Putonghua and English in school has no significant correlation with their Putonghua and English ability; there is a significant correlation between the use of Cantonese in school and the ability to use Cantonese;enhancing students' Cantonese skills will help them better integrate into Hong Kong society and get out of their identity dilemma; taking advantage of students' strengths in Putonghua can better integrate Hong Kong in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the overall development of the country.
