A Preliminary Study of the Aesthetic Consciousness Reflected in Architectural Decorations in Modern Times
From the Tongzhi reign period of the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China,architectural decorations in the homeland of overseas Chinese gradually developed a unique rural aesthetic consciousness,as an active response of overseas Chinese to exposure to the Western culture.Based on decorative materials obtained from field surveys in Wuyi,combined with the local people's life style,this article analyzes the local aesthetic tastes,aesthetic themes,and aesthetic forms,and proposes three kinds of aesthetic consciousness:exotic beauty,industrial beauty and blended beauty.The aesthetic consciousness has not only enriched the connotation of Lingnan rural aesthetics,but is also of great significance to the construction of contemporary qiaoxiang rural aesthetics with rural people as aesthetic subjects.
