The architectural wall murals in the Wuyi region are one of the important artistic legacies in China's homelands of overseas Chinese.They are an important record of the image narrations,social education and modern evolution of the populace's aesthetic psychology.Examining the categories of the subject matter of the murals is the most basic academic issue in the study of architectural murals in the Wuyi qiaoxiang.Based on field surveys in Wuyi region,this article sorts out and analyzes the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and the evolution of the subject matter of modern architectural murals,reveals the cultural functions and connotations of the three categories of murals with enlightenment,blessings and modernization as their themes respectively and can provide a basic support for the research on rural aesthetics of architectural wall murals in qiaoxiang regions.
