A Comparative Study of Urban Tourism Competitiveness of the World's Four Major Bay Areas Based on Online Travel Platform Information
Searching for information using online travel platforms is an integral part of travel experience.Based on the information on internationally renowned online tourism platforms, this paper constructs an urban tourism competitiveness evaluation system composed of four dimensions:quantity&scale, consumer prices,word-of-mouth reviews, and product diversity, and 14 specific measurement indicators;and adopts the AHP-TOPSIS method to evaluate 21 major cities in the four major bay areas in the world and analyze the gaps and deficiencies between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the other bay areas:the New York Bay Area,San Francisco Bay Area, and the Tokyo Bay Area. The results show that:the internationalization level of tourism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is not high, and the cross-cultural diversity is insufficient;development of tourism within the Greater Bay Area is unbalanced, with Hong Kong and Macao significantly superior to the PRD cities, and Guangzhou,Shenzhen and Zhuhai superior to other PRD cities. The tourism industry of the Greater Bay Area should integrate global online travel platform information resources, encourage competent enterprises to"digitally go global",provide comprehensive travel products and service information to international travelers, and build a first-class international tourism information ecosystem.
