Under the influence of multiple factors,especially the profound changes in the global landscape and challenges posed by artificial intelligence,foreign language studies are facing unprecedented transformations.There is a broad con-sensus within the academic community that reform is imperative and the transformation of foreign language studies is an urgent necessity.A review of the higher education reform process since China's opening up reveals that there are three major directions for the transformation and reform of international studies universities:serving national development strate-gies,redistributing regional and institutional resources,and consolidating the disciplinary foundation.This paper takes Xi'an International Studies University(XISU)as a case study to explore how international studies universities can cater to the needs of our rapidly changing time by implementing comprehensive reforms in areas such as curriculum development and faculty resources reform,talent cultivation,academic research,and social service,to promote the high-quality devel-opment of foreign language studies.
