Generative artificial intelligence(GenAI),with its human-like capabilities in understanding, generating and creating, has triggered a significant revolution in human knowledge acquisition and human-computer interaction. As a cross-linguistic activity of knowledge production and communication, translation practice is profoundly influenced by GenAI technology, leading to deep transformation in workflows. This necessitates an intelligent enhancement of transla-tors'competence to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by technological advancements in the new era. This paper starts with a historical review of the development of translation technology, investigates the multifaceted em-powerment of translation practice by GenAI tools, exemplified by ChatGPT,and elucidates the transition in translation workflows from post-editing to human-AI collaboration. Then, based on a review of translation competence research, the paper analyzes the role transformation of translators in the GenAI environment, proposing that AI translation literacy be an evolutionary pattern of translators'translation competence.A conceptual framework of AI translation literacy is construc-ted from the four dimensions of knowledge, thinking, competence and ethics, with a view to providing references for the reform of translation teaching in higher education in the GenAI era.
