摘要
派特·巴克的《重生三部曲》以治疗神经官能症为焦点,着重刻画了医生瑞弗斯和患者的身体感知,呈现了理性分析与感性同情之间的情感困境,勾勒出"压抑—移情—共情"的情感叙事.光感、壁纸和尸腐味等感官意象是瑞弗斯对战争苦难的具身想象,折射出战争中身体与情感相脱离的社会境况,反映了社会对人性的压抑.移情是瑞弗斯以身体为载体关怀士兵内心情感的治疗方法,身体与自然、个体与社会之间的情感传递,隐含着一种感同身受的情感表达."非语言—语言"的情感表达伴随着身体姿势的变化,体现了情感与身体的高度弥合,更是对情感政体的质疑与对社会规范的反抗.具身性同情是指通过身体反应体现对他人情感的认知和理解.巴克对具身性同情的书写刻画了战争中的人性光辉,呈现了身体感知、情感波动与社会结构的紧密联系,不仅深入剖析了身体感知的小世界,也以理性的眼光审视了社会历史的大背景.具身性同情研究与战争文学研究中暴力、冷漠、记忆等主题研究形成一种互补,展现了对战争与情感的具身认知和深度反思.
Abstract
Focusing on the treatment of psychoneurosis,Pat Barker's The Regeneration Trilogy presents people's emotional dilemma between rational analysis and sensual sympathy by depicting the physical perception of Dr.Rivers and his patients.It also implies the emotional narrative of"repression-empathy-compassion".Sensory imagery,such as light,wallpaper,and the smell of corpses,is Dr.Rivers'embodied imagery of the repression of World War Ⅰ,reflecting the detachment between the body and the emotion as well as the repression of humanity by society.Empathy is a therapeutic way in which Dr.Rivers relieves soldiers'emotional repression,highlighting the emotional transmission between the body and nature and between the individual and society,which implies a sympathetic expression.The"non-verbal to verbal"expression of emotion is accompanied by the changes in body posture,reflecting a high degree of bridging of emotion and body,a questioning of the emotional polity,and a rebellion against social discipline.Embodied sympathy refers to the understanding and recognition of others'emotions through bodily responses.Barker's writing on embodied sympathy portrays the glory of human nature in the war.It reflects the close connection between embodied perception,emotional fluctuation,and social structure,which not only deeply analyzes the bodily perception but also examines the social history with a rational perspective.The study of embodied sympathy forms a kind of complementarity with the study of violence,indifference,and memory in war literature,reflecting Pat Barker's embodied cognition and in-depth reflection on war and emotion.
