The Image Construction of Research Universities:A Comparative Study of University Website Discourses in Chinese and English
The study of image discourse always has two fundamental problems.The first is how to establish a comprehensive framework for the analysis of multiple discourse representations in the process of image construction.The second is how to explain image construction in terms of ideational demands and contextual constraints.This study attempts to answer these two questions by proposing an operational framework with multiple factors to clarify the analytic path of image construction research at the discourse level.To be more concentrated,this research takes the official websites of research universities as its object.It compares the different performances of Chinese and English discourses when facing the same preconceived image,and explores how the variations at the discourse level are constrained by various factors.
